And we’re back! The 6th Challenge of 2024 saw our return to the much-loved Graves Park. There was a celebratory atmosphere around the joyful jade joggers as we gathered after a 2-month summer break.

With Chris Day and Ian Bates celebrating their 100th parkrun, and Liz Carthy completing a double milestone of birthday and her 50th parkrun, there was always likely to be plenty of treats for all to enjoy, but perhaps this was not the occasion for Chris to experiment with his egg free sponge!
53 sweet toothed Totlies arrived bleary eyed but highly motivated by the promise of baked goodies at the completion of the second running of ‘that hill’.

An excuse to bake? you could almost hear Ann Hegarty pulling on her well-earned Totley bake off apron to feed the masses.
Unfortunately, this was also the parkrun event that a baking entrepreneur had opted to bring a rather large selection of what looked like amazing offerings, but after having sampled several pieces of home bakes, I for one decided that I’d had my fair share by the time I staggered past her stand.
With the recent conclusion to the amazing 5KTTT, the morning also saw several challenge participants receive their well-earned and personalised awards.
Both the Challenge and the 5KTTT events continue to highlight Totley members at their finest, participation and running together as a community.
For the next event on the 26th of October, we pack our overnight bags and head to Monsal for the club championship addition.
I hope to see you there.
