Introduction

Blackamoor Chase is one of the shorter Totley AC races but it still packs a punch. It takes in a few of the big hills within the Blackamoor woods and finishes with the classic descent off of Totley Moor down through the steep horse fields.

This event is online entry only and numbers will be collected upon arrival. We will observe the FRA COVID guidelines throughout and you will be expected to wear masks (apart from when you are running) and maintain social distancing.

The 2018, 6.7km lung buster of a course looks like it’ll be around for a few years to come. It will also continue to have the young guns competing against the adults so 14s and overs can run! This will be the first Totley AC race to have fell runners this young not only taking part but competing alongside adults.

Mandatory kit

In extreme weather conditions, the Race Organiser will use their discretion to decide whether kit will be necessary. Please bring full kit with you and expect to be asked to carry your waterproof jacket.

The route

Blacka Moor Chase 2018 is 6.7km and has 252 meters of height gain. Due to access on Blacka Moor and Totley Moor the route is entirely on PRoW and is therefore fully marked and must be followed at all times.

Entries

The race will be entry on day only.
It’s £6 to enter on the night, please try to bring the correct change.
You must neither start the race using a number obtained in someone else’s name nor give your number to someone else to use in the race.

Race Day

If you require assistance at any time then please contact Race Control on one of the following numbers:

 07749646272 Steve Franklin, Race Organiser

This race is held under FRA Rules and runners must familiarize themselves with and comply with the FRA Requirements for Runners 2018 (the “Runners’ Rules”).

All runners must carry the kit required by the Race Organiser. Mandatory kit inspections may be performed on race day.  You will not be admitted to start the race unless you have passed this inspection.  A further check may be undertaken on completion of the race – anyone completing the race without the required kit will be disqualified and reported to the FRA.

Your race number must not be folded or cut down and, at the start, all checkpoints and the finish must be clearly visible on your chest.
Numbers may be recorded at some checkpoints as well as at the finish; failure to show your number at checkpoints will lead to disqualification.
Entrants may not take dogs on the course
Road crossings will be marshaled but competitors are responsible for their own safety.
Runners are not required to record their arrival at checkpoints in any way. The only requirement is that competitors must run past the marshals (without taking shortcuts) with their race numbers clearly visible.

Retirement procedure
Runners wishing to retire from the race MUST inform Race Control and not just a marshal. They should either:

  • Report to a checkpoint and then return directly to the finish to report to race control
  • Report directly to race control at Totley AC Pavilion when retiring between checkpoints or
  • Telephone Race Control (see numbers listed above)
